Getting Started
Everything you need to install, update, and play on AION Family.
Prepare your AION 4.8 game
Use a compatible AION 4.8 client that you already have. AION Family does not currently host a full game-client download. Locate the folder containing bin64\aion.bin — for example C:\Games\Aion48.
Download the launcher
Download AION Family Launcher, extract it to a folder such as C:\Games\AIONFamilyLauncher, then double-click AIONFamilyLauncher.cmd. No background application is needed.
Select game directory and check patches
Browse to your game folder and click CHECK / REPAIR. If a patch is available, click APPLY UPDATES. The launcher verifies SHA-256 checksums before replacing files and keeps backups of changed originals.
Log in and play
Click PLAY AION and use your existing AION Family game account. The launcher exits as soon as the game starts. Use the LAN checkbox only if you are playing from the same local network as the server.
Visit the Marketplace
Click the Black Marketplace icon inside AION to open the website in your default browser. Sign in with the same AION account, select your character in the UCP, and buy items with NCoins. Delivery is queued to Black Cloud Mail.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to reinstall AION for every update?
No. The launcher checks hashes and downloads only the files published in the patch manifest that are missing or changed.
Why does the launcher say my client is up to date?
It means your client matches the currently published patch feed. The first feed is intentionally empty until the admin uploads a verified game-client patch.
Can I play from outside the server’s local network?
Use Public mode. The administrator must also configure router forwarding, firewall rules and game-server public address advertisement. A working website does not itself prove external game-server connectivity.
Does the launcher run in the background while I play?
No. It launches AION and closes; it is not a companion or required background process.
What if an update fails?
No unverified download is installed. You can retry Check / Repair; changed older files are saved under .aionfamily-backups in your game directory.
Where do I report an issue?
Contact your AION Family server administrator through the community channel they provide. Please include the game version, what you clicked and the exact error message, but never share passwords or 2FA codes.
